My interest in radio started by listening to the radio and was curious on how radio worked. When working in the retail sector I saw an advert in the local paper for volunteers for the Hospital Radio Station in Perth. I was accepted to join the team and spent many a happy time learning how radio worked and how to "do"radio. I was offered a part time position with Radio Tay, I then ran the Commercial Production department, before splitting my time between daytime presenting on Tay AM and production work. Unfortunately I was made redundant but was picked up by Wave 102, where I worked my way up to Programme Controller, and oversaw an ambitious studio relocation project.
With the reconstruction of the radio industry I was made redundant again in September 2017. I was delighted that after a meeting with The Chairman of Heartland FM I was given the task of completing a computer project and again the radio station was on the move too, so it was a bit of Deja Vu as we moved to a new location in July of 2018.
Being at Heartland FM has allowed me to return to grass roots radio, being part of the community and focus on local issues which affect our local area. So tune in 10am - 1pm Monday to Friday where we have the Hall of Fame Hour at 10am, the Grey Matter Quiz at 10.30, the Coffee Break at 11am, the Soapbox and 11.30 and lots of great music and chat. Happy listening
