This year was the 3rd annual Gala Day initiated by the Pavilion User Groups (PUGs) to celebrate the opening of the new terracing. The day has grown year on year but this year it was decided to pair up with Breadalbane & Strathtay Community Football group and hold a football festival at the same time.
The event turned out to be the biggest event in Pitlochry after the Highland Games in September with almost 2,000 people turning up. There were 53 teams taking part with over 500 young players from near and far, Dyce, Fife & Glasgow as well as the more local teams from Perth, Blairgowrie, Luncarty and our own Breadalbane & Strathtay.
A beautiful sunny day, bouncy castles, good food, ice cream and a variety of stalls all made for a great family day out. The feedback was all very positive with many teams expressing surprise that this was the first time we had held such an event. All going to show the hard work of the organisers paid off on the day.
Thanks is due to Shona Hutchcox & Mairi MacAdam for their tireless efforts in pulling it all together and if there was to be one criticism, it would be that more help is needed from the community if it is all to continue.
Continue? It has already been provisionally booked for next year and with such high numbers of attendees and visitors to the event it is a very attractive date for those wishing to take a stall or a pitch. If you are interested in helping out or sponsoring the day in any way then email email@example.com and help build this already successful day into something very special.
Heartland FM were also at the event speaking to local community members and politicians. To find out more about the gala day and view our video interviews visit our Youtube account or follow the link to listen to the podcast versions of the interviews http://player.broadcastradio.com/heartland-fm
