The rest of the team.

After recently graduating from my degree in Geography and Economics at Aberdeen I came to heartland looking for research work experience in the media sector. I loved how the station prided itself on being community based and having grown up in Highland Perthshire I thought it the perfect opportunity to learn more about the radio as well as the area in which I was brought up. I am currently helping to re-brand the website, come up with programme ideas and drafting transcripts for guided audio tours around the area. It's a great learning curve and I'm enjoying the experience so far!

I have been involved in radio for over 20 years and have always had an interest in radio. I remember as a child when on a family holiday going to see a Radio 1 Roadshow when this was a spectacular sea side event at Clacton On Sea presented by the legend that is Simon Bates. Many years later I saw an appeal in the local paper looking for volunteers for Hospital Radio Perth. I spent many a happy time with Hospital Radio and this led to an opportunity in commercial radio first with Radio Tay, and then with Wave 102.

I have been involved with Heartland FM from the latter part of 2017 and was delighted when The Chairman offered me the position of Station Manager, which I gladly accepted. I bring with me my radio experience and enthusiasm for pure local radio. With the local community ethos of Heartland FM I look forward to encouraging our existing presenters, bringing new programmes to Highland Perthshire, and including the local community in everything we do. Hope you enjoy listening to our programmes and if you feel you would like to present a show on air, or be involved in some way, please do get in touch.

I could not believe my luck when I moved to Pitlochry to discover that we had our own radio station. I offered to help sell books in the thrift shop to raise funds, within a few days I was on air and within a month I was anchoring the 5 hour Saturday morning magazine programme "Reveille". I love the ethos and the opportunities that HFM provides and I am still here after 25 years now as Development Officer and part-time presenter.
